Short Bio
I was born in Milan on 23 June 1966, graduated in Economics with distinction from “L. Bocconi” University (Milan) in 1991 and obtained my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Siena in 1995. I have held a position at the University of Siena since 1997, serving as Associate Professor since 2001. Between 2013 and 2014 I was appointed to serve at the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance. I live in Florence, am married and I have two children.
Research Interests
My research interests span public economics, welfare economics and the economic analysis of law and institutions. Recurrent research topics are: public intervention as a response to market failures, the theory of taxation, the optimal enforcement of law and government budget policies within the European union. Occasionally, I have written on intellectual property rights and innovation and on the regulation of markets.
